My Role: UX/UI Designer

As part of a small team of designers,  we built an application based on rigorous research and testing to answer the need of sustainability in the design industry. We knew sustainability was an issue in the industry and our goal was to address it; our user research and collaborative iteration lead us to our final major feature offering. Within my role on the team I realized opportunities to merge a much used social media feature with ours and I championed this as a major aspect of our feature offering. Hence the name Match Market was created out of the merging of social media likes and saves with sustainable shopping options.

Tools: XD, Figma, Miro, Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, and After Effects

Duration: 3 Months

Scope: Conducted User Research and Testing, User Journeys, Wireframes, Mid-High Fidelity Screens, Prototypes

Match Market was a project that came out of the need to address sustainibility in fashion. I worked with a team of folks that worked in the fashion industry that new up close the amount of waste that was left over from season to season. The app matches users' instagram likes or other saved images with sustainable options. The app gives information on how the clothing is made and what makes it and the company sustainable.

It was important that the shopping experience was seemless so that users would be retained and continue to shop with us sustainably.

Our aha moment came in the research phase when we realized that most of our users were influnced by platforms such as intsagram when thinking about fashion. This became our major feature. Althoug, we created options for users that did not use instagram.

User flow, user journey and empathy maps also helped carve the journey to keep retention while allowing users flexibilty.

We spent a great deal of time on the selection of an item and the checkout process as this is often the most frustrating path of features to many users. Visibility and confirmation became important interfaces to really hone in on!
